Question

Draw an angle 150oand draw its axis of symmetry.

Open in App
Solution

Steps of construction-

Step-1: Draw a ray OP

Step-2: Place the compass pointer at O and draw an arc of a convenient radius that cuts the line at any point say A.

Step-3: Without changing the length of the compass draw an arc with A as the center that cuts the first arc at a point say B.

Step-4: Without changing the length of the compass draw an arc with B as the center that cuts the first arc at a point say C.

Step-5: Without changing the length of the compass draw an arc with C as the center that cuts the first arc at a point say D.

Step-6: Now with C and D as centers and take any suitable radius to draw two arcs intersecting each other at Q.

Step-7: Join OQ using a ruler, It intersects the circular arc at E and QOP is the required angle of 150o

Step-8: Now with E and A as centers and take any suitable radius to draw two arcs intersecting each other at G, to find the axis of symmetry.

Step-9: Join GO using a ruler, GO is the axis of symmetry of the angle 150o

Hence, QOP measures 150oand GO are its axes of symmetry.
