Question

Draw an equilateral triangle of side 4 cm. Draw its circumcircle.

Open in App
Solution

Steps of construction:-
  1. Draw a line segment BC=4cm
  2. With B as centre and radius of 4cm, draw an arc.
  3. Similarly, with C as centre and radius of 4cm, draw another arc to intersect the previous arc at A.
  4. Join AB and AC.
  5. ABC is the required equilateral triangle.
  6. Draw the perpendicular bisector of the sides of the triangle.
  7. Mark the point of intersection of the perpendicular bisectors as 'O' which is called the circumcentre of the triangle.
  8. With 'O' as centre, OA or OB or OC as radius, draw a circle passing through A,B and C.
Hence the circumcircle of the equiateral triangle is constructed.
