Carpel:

  1. The flower is a special structure that has male and female sex organs which contain the male and female gametes.
  2. A flower generally has four whorls: calyx, corolla, androecium, and gynoecium.
  3. Gynoecium is the female reproductive part od the flower and is also known as the carpel or pistil.
  4. Each carpel has a basal swollen part known as the ovary.
  5. A long cylindrical region is called the style.
  6. And also a flat sticky receptor region called the stigma which receives the pollen grains.
  7. The ovary contains many ovules where the female sex gamete is present
  8. Ovules develop into seed and ovaries develop into fruits
