using a ruler and set square

Open in App
Solution

Steps of construction:

Step-1: Draw a line 'l' with a point P on it.

Step-2: Place one of the edges of a ruler along the line 'l' and hold it firmly.

Step-3: Place the set square in such a way that one of its edges containing the right angles coincides with the ruler.

[Note:- In place of a ruler, we can use the second set square also.]

Step-4: Holding the ruler firmly, slide the set square along the line 'l' till the vertical side of the set square reaches point P.

Step-5: Firmly holding the set square in this position draw line PQ along its edges.

[Note:- In place of a ruler, we can use the second set square also.]

Here, PQ is the required perpendicular through the point P on line 'l'
