Steps of construction:

Step-1: Draw a line $\text{'}l\text{'}$ with a point $P$ on it.

Step-2: Place one of the edges of a ruler along the line $\text{'}l\text{'}$ and hold it firmly.

Step-3: Place the set square in such a way that one of its edges containing the right angles coincides with the ruler.

[Note:- In place of a ruler, we can use the second set square also.]

Step-4: Holding the ruler firmly, slide the set square along the line $\text{'}l\text{'}$ till the vertical side of the set square reaches point $P$.

Step-5: Firmly holding the set square in this position draw line $PQ$ along its edges.

Here, $PQ$ is the required perpendicular through the point $P$ on line $\text{'}l\text{'}$
