Solution

Pitcher plants:

  1. The pitcher plant is an insectivorous plant.
  2. It is also a partially heterotrophic plant.
  3. It grows in nitrogen-deficient soil and depends on insects to fulfillment of its nutrient requirement.
  4. The leaf is modified into a pitcher shape.
  5. The coloration of the pitcher attracts the insects.
  6. As the insect lands on the plant, the neck of the pitcher closes and the bristles inside the pitcher pierces the body of the insect.
  7. The insect cannot escape as the pitcher is filled with slippery and acidic fluid. Once the insect is trapped, the insect is digested.
