Draw any line segment, say . Take any point C lying in between A and B. Measure the lengths of AB,BC and AC. Is AB=AC+CB? [Note: If A,B,C are any three points on a line, such that AC+CB=AB, then we can be sure that C lies between A and B.

Step 1. Draw a line AB and point C lying in between A and B.

Step 2. Measure the lengths of AB,BC and AC.

Measure the length with the help of ruler.

So, we find that AB=8cm,BC=3cm and AC=5cm.

Step 3. Determine whether AB=AC+CB.

Substitute 3 for CB and 5 for AC in AB=AC+CB.

AB=5+3=8cm

Hence, the statement AC=AB+CB is true then it showed that point C lying in between A and B.
