Human digestive system:

  1. The food one eats needs to digest to liberate energy.
  2. It has done in the digestive system of the body.
  3. The digestive system consists of the alimentary canal and associated digestive glands.
  4. The different parts of the alimentary canal are the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.
  5. The associated glands are the liver and pancreas.
  6. Food is taken by mouth, and breakdown by teeth.
  7. Then the semi-digested food from the mouth enters the stomach through the oesophagus.
  8. There is no food digestion that occurs in the oesophagus.
  9. The food enters the stomach. Here protein digestion occurs.
  10. The stomach is a sac-like structure that secretes digestive juices, HCL which helps in protein digestion.
  11. Then the food enters the small intestine. In the small intestine, all kinds of food get digested and absorbed into the blood stream.
  12. The small intestine has three parts duodenum, ileum, and jejunum.
  13. The undigested food gets stored in the large intestine and expelled out through the anus.
  14. The large intestine is the last part of the alimentary canal.
  15. It is divisible into three parts: colon, caecum, and rectum.
