Open in App
Solution

Steps of construction :

(1) Draw a line segment AB = 5.8 cm.
(2) At A, draw XAB = 90° and at B, draw YBA = 90° (since each angle in a square is of 90°)
(3) Taking A as centre, draw an arc of radius 5.8 cm that intersects XA at D.
(4) Taking B as centre, draw an arc of radius 5.8 cm that intersects YB at C.
(5) Join D and C.
The required square ABCD is thus drawn.
