Question

Draw the circumcircle and incircle of an equilateral triangle ABC with side 6.6 cm.

Open in App
Solution

Steps of construction:-
1. Draw a line segment BC = 6.6 cm.
2. With B as the centre and a radius of 6.6 cm, draw an arc.
3. With C as the centre and the same radius as above, draw another arc cutting the previously drawn arc at point A.
4. Join AB and AC.
5. Draw perpendicular bisectors of sides AB and BC (any two sides) which intersect at I.
6. Taking I as the centre and IA or IB or IC as the radius, draw the required circumcircle.
7. Draw the angle bisectors of B and C which intersect at point I
8. From point I, draw a perpendicular IK on side BC.
9. Taking I as the centre and IK as the radius, draw the required incircle.
