Human Sperm:

  1. A male reproductive cell is a sperm.
  2. Sperm is produced in the testicles of higher vertebrates.

Structure of human sperm:

  1. The human sperm is a male gamete.
  2. It is microscopic and motile in nature.
  3. Human sperm has four parts such as head, neck, middle piece, and tail.
  4. The Head of the sperm contains the nucleus and genetic material.
  5. The sperm head is covered by a cap-like structure called the acrosome.
  6. Acrosome has an enzyme hyaluronidase which helps in the fertilization of eggs.
  7. The middle piece contains mitochondria.
  8. It provides energy for the motility of the sperm.
  9. The tail is the distal part of the sperm and helps in the migration of sperm.
