Draw the following:
A rectangle with adjacent sides of lengths 5 cm and 4 cm.

Steps of construction:

1. Draw a line segment AB of length 5 cm.

2. Draw perpendicular lines at A and B using protractor.

3. Using compass cut arc at the perpendicular from A and B of lengths 4 cm which intersects the perpendiculars at D and C respectively.

4. Join these CD.

Hence, ABCD is required rectangle.

Verification:

In ABCD, A=B=C=D=90

AB=CD=5 cm,AD=BD=4 cm

So, ABCD is a rectangle.
