Question

Draw the graph of given equations, (i) x+2y=10; (ii) 2x+y+5=0
Answer the given question.
Write the co-ordinates of a point where the first line cuts the Y-axis.

Solution

Given,
x+2y=10

y=5x2

Substituting different values of x to get corresponding values of y, we get ,

(0,5),(2,4),(2,6),(4,3),(4,7)

Plotting these points on the graph, we get the graph of the equation, x+2y=10

Similarly,
Given second equation,

2x+y+5=0

y=52x

Substituting different values of x to get corresponding values of y, we get

(0,5),(1,7),(1,3),(2,9),(2,1)

Plotting these points on the graph, we get the graph of the equation, 2x+y+5=0

The first line cuts the y axis at (0,5)
