Draw the graph of the equation 2x + y = 6. Find the coordinates of the point, where the graph cuts the x-axis.

Given equation:
2x +y = 6ā‡’ y = 6 - 2x
When, x = 0, y = 6 - 0 = 6.
When, x =1, y = 6 - 2 = 4.
When, x = 2, y = 6 - 4 = 2.
Thus, we have the following table:
x 0 1 2
y 6 4 2

Plot the points (0,6), (1,4) and (2,2) on the graph paper. Join these points and extend the line.



Clearly, the graph cuts the x-axis at P(3,0).
