Then,
$W h e n x = 1, y = 1 W h e n x = 2, y = 2 W h e n x = 3, y = 3 W h e n x = 4, y = 4 . . .$
and so on.
Plot the points $(1, 1), (2, 2), (3, 3), (4, 4) . . . . . .$ .
Join the points and extend them in both the directions.

We see that $(2, 3)$ does not lie on the line $y = x$ .
