Given: $x^{2} - x - 6 = 0$

We know that :
$a x^{2} + b x + c = 0$ can be written as

$a (x^{2} - \frac{Sum of Roots}{a} x + \frac{Product of Roots}{a}) = 0$

comparing with the equation, $x^{2} - x - 6 = 0$

Therefore, Sum of roots $= 1$
