Given equation is $x^{2} - x - 2 = 0$
As from the graph, we can see that line intersects the parabola at two different points.
Solving the equation $x^{2} - x - 2 = 0$ , results in the same two points as we get from intersection.

Therefore $x = - 1$ or $x = 2$ .
