Electron dot structure:-

  1. It is actually a diagrammatic representation that will describe the bonding of the atoms.
  2. It may also define the number of lone pairs of electrons that will exist in a molecule of atoms.
  3. It is also known as the Lewis dot structure.
  4. In O2, as each O atom is surrounded by the 6 electrons.
  5. As in the formation of O2 molecule, two Oxygen atoms doesn't have any change or difference in the electronegativities so there would be sharing of the electron pair.
  6. As each Oxygen atom needs 2 electrons for getting stabilized and for formation of the O2 molecule.

Therefore, the electron-dot structure of the O2 is :
