Draw the perpendicular bisector of a line segment of length 10 cm. Find the point on the bisector, which along with the line segment forms an equilateral triangle.
Steps :
1. Using graduated ruler, draw line segment AB of length 10 cm.
2. Draw 2 arcs of radius more than than half of AB with A as centre, one above AB and one below AB.
3. With the same radius, similarly draw 2 arcs with B as the centre.
4. Let the point where the 2 arcs above AB meet be P and the point where the 2 arcs below AB meet be Q.
5. Join PQ to obtain the perpendicular bisector.
6. With A as centre draw an arc of radius 10 cm. Let this arc intersect PQ at C. Join CA and CB to obtain equilateral triangle ABC.
