Question

Draw the perpendicular bisector of PQ¯ whose length is 9.5 cm.

Take any point M on the bisector drawn. Examine whether MP=MQ.

Open in App
Solution

STEP-1 To draw the perpendicular bisector.

Steps of construction-

1. Draw a line segment PQ of length 9.5 cm.

2. With P as a centre, draw a arc on both sides of the line PQ whose radius should be more than half of length of PQ.

3. With the same radius and Q as centre, draw another arc cutting the previous arcs at C and D respectively.

4. Join CD.

Thus, CD is the required perpendicular bisector.

STEP-2 Check whether MP=MQ.

1. Mark a point M on CD and join MP and MQ.

2. on measuring MPand MQ(using a rular), we get MP=MQ.

Thus, MP=MQ.
