Question

Draw the perpendicular bisector of XY, whose length is 10.3 cm

Open in App
Solution

Steps of construction -
Step I - Draw a line segment, XY=10.3 cm by using a graduated ruler.
Step II - With X as center and radius more than half of XY, draw arcs on each side of XY.
Step III - With Y as a center and the same radius as in step II, draw arcs cutting the arcs drawn in step II at A and B respectively.
Step IV - Draw the line segment with A and B as endpoints. Suppose it meets XY at D. Then, D bisects the line segment XY.
