The steps for construction of the required triangle are as follows.

1. Draw a line segment AB of length 5 cm.

2. Take A as the centre and 8 cm as the radius to draw part of a circle.

3. Take B as the centre and 7 cm as the radius to draw part of a circle.

4. Mark a point C where these parts of circles intersect.

5. Join AC and CB.

Thus, ΔABC is the required triangle.
