Evaporation is a surface phenomenon. The particles of liquid (of wet clothes) are always in motion and at any given temperature, there are particles with different amounts of kinetic energy. Some of the particles that are present at the surface have high kinetic energy. These particles can break their bonds with other particles to overcome the force of attraction and gets converted into vapor. Hence clothes are dried in open terrace due to evaporation which is further influenced by wind, humidity, sunlight etc.
