Solution

The correct option is A X - Moderate
Y - Radical
The Indian National Congress was founded in the year 1885. The party contained two sets of people who differed in their political approach towards fighting against the British. The moderates and the radicals. The moderates had a firm belief on the British sense of justice and fair play. Therefore, they adopted constitutional means of appeal, petition, and prayer to the British. Whereas, the radicals or the assertive nationalists advocated for achieving ‘Swaraj’ or self-rule through assertive methods like boycotts and the Swadeshi movements.
