Question

During an experiment, an ideal gas is found to obey an additional law pV² = constant.The gas is initially at temperature T and volume V. Find temperature when it expandsto 2V.

Open in App
Solution

pV = nRT
=> p =(nrT/V)
taking (nr) as a constant k
=> p = kT/V

given
pV² = constant
(kT/V)*V² = constant
T*V = constant
As V becomes 2V,
T will become T/2 to make (T*V = costant)
temperature = T/2
