Solution

The correct option is A 10 : 1
The rate of oxygen production and consumption depends on relative rates of photosynthesis and respiration. The rate of photosynthetic absorption of carbon dioxide is higher during day times as compared to the rate of respiratory release of carbon dioxide. This results in the production of the greater amount of oxygen by photosynthesis than the amount needed for respiration. Hence there is build of oxygen in cells. Owing to the lower rate of respiration as compared to that of photosynthesis during the day time, the ratio of oxygen production to its consumption is 10:1. Thus, the correct answer is option A.
