Electro-osmosis is the process in which under an applied electric field colloidal particles movement is prevented and the dispersion medium only moves. As the ferric hydroxide sol is positive colloid, so the dispersion medium should have opposite charge to make the whole solution electrically neutral. As per electro-osmosis the sol particle movement is prevented and the movement of dispersion medium is allowed. So they move toward the anode.
