During electrochemical process, when 2 rods, Zn and Cu are taken in seperate containers why does Zn releases 2 electrons and Cu accepts it and NOT vice versa?

Zinc is more reactive than copper. It is placed above copper in electrochemical series. So, Zn is more oxidizing than Cu. So, Zn will act as anode and undergo oxidation and Cu act as cathode and will undergo reduction.
