during goose bumps or piloerectionhairs from some parts of our body become erect due to a erector muscle attached to the hair. There are innumerous hairs on our body, then there should be an equal number of erector muscles in our body. But, it is told to us that there are about 400 muscles in total in our body. How is this possible?

It is not the total muscles in human body that you are talking about but it is the approximate number (around 650-840) of different types of muscle found in human body. The muscles arrector pili are located at the base of hair follicles which contract and pull the hair; thereby, causing goose bumps.
