Question

During her morning walk, Nina walks \(420\) steps in \(6\) minutes. Calculate the number of steps she walks in one minute.

Open in App
Solution

Total number of steps Nina takes \(= 420\)
Time taken =\( 6\) mins

Number of steps she takes in \(1\) minute = total number of steps \(\div\) time taken

\(=420 \div6\)

Since, \(6 \times 7 = 42\), we can divide \(42\) by \(6\) and put a zero at the end of the quotient. Hence, \(420\div 6 = 70\).

Let’s divide the numbers using the long division method.

Hence, Nina walks \(70\) steps in \(1\) minute.
