During the growth period in children, release of too much growth hormone may lead to
Gigantism
An excess of growth hormone during the growing period leads to excessive linear growth, causing the child to grow very tall, with abnormally large hands and feet and coarse facial features including a prominent forehead and jaw. This is called gigantism. An excess of growth hormones in adults leads to acromegaly. When Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) is secreted less than the normal level in children, it results in dwarfism.
