During respiration in animals, oxygen is taken in and carbon dioxide is given out.
And the exhaled air contains higher percentage of carbon dioxide than inhaled air.
This can be proved by -
  • Take limewater in two different beakers.
  • Exhale in one and inhale from another.
  • You will notice that CO2 percentage in inhaled air is so less that it imposes no effect on the limewater.
  • However, exhaled air effectively turns limewater milky or cloudy.
