Solution

The correct option is C II, III and IV only
Test tube A contains soap solution which is basic in nature.
Test tube B contains a carbonated drink which is acidic in nature as it contains carbonic acid.
Test tube C contains vinegar which is acidic in nature as it contains acetic acid.

Let’s discuss the colours shown by the turmeric solution, litmus solution and red cabbage extract in acidic, basic and neutral solutions.

Turmeric solution remains yellow in acidic and neutral solutions. It turns red in the basic solutions.
Red cabbage extract shows red colour in acidic solutions, green colour in basic solutions and purple colour in neutral solutions.
Litmus solution shows red colour in acidic solutions, blue colour in basic solutions and purple colour in neutral solutions.

Let’s analyse the statements given in the question.

Turmeric solution will remain yellow in test tube B and C as these solutions are acidic in nature. Therefore, statement I is incorrect.
Litmus solution will turn blue in test tube A as solution A is basic in nature. Therefore, statement II is correct.
Since solution A is basic in nature, red cabbage extract will turn green in test tube A. Therefore, statement III is correct.
Since solutions B and C are acidic in nature, litmus solution will turn red in test tubes B and C. Therefore, statement IV is correct.
