Question

During the thunder storm, the flash of lightning is seen before the thunder is heard. Why?

Open in App
Solution

Speed of light (c=3×108m/s) is more than speed of sound (330m/s) which means light travels faster than sound. Thus flash of lightning is seen before the thunder is heard even when both the events occur simultaneously during the thunder storm.
