Steam rising from a hot girdle when water is sprinkled on it.
Steam rising from a hot girdle when water is sprinkled on it is due to the process known as evaporation.
When water is sprinkled on a hot girdle, which is a hotter object, the water from its liquid form gets converted to vapour or steam and it rises from the girdle. This process of conversion of water from its liquid form (state) into vapour or gaseous form (state) is known as evaporation.
