Cost of 1 kg of sugar = $2.5
Cost of 1 kg of cake-mix = $3

∴ Cost of 1 cake = $[(2 × 2.5) + 3]
= $5 + 3
= $8

Now, total budget given = $72.16

So, number of cakes that can be made using the given budget = $72.16 ÷ 8

Calculating 72.16 ÷ 8 by standard method, we get:


The nearest whole number that is lower than 9.02 is 9.
