According to Darwinism, due to inherent reproductive capacity, the populations tend to reproduce until they reach the carrying capacity of the environment. In this condition, the environment offers resistances in the form of a shortage of space and food. However, owing to the reproduction, there will be some individuals who would have inherited favourable variation to resist the unfavourable environmental conditions. These will be able to continue reproduction and pass on these favourable variations to their progeny while others will be eliminated. This process of differential survival is called natural selection and it causes survival of the fittest individuals that can easily adapt to the environment.
