Solution

The correct option is D Eight
Ovule is an megasporangium which contains female reproductive cells. The stalk of an ovule is called funiculus. Ovule contains nucellus. It is surrounded by integuments. The place of origin of integuments is called as chalaza. The functional megaspore undergoes three mitotic divisions. The first division produces oval shaped cell called as embryo sac. The two nuclei shift to the two ends and divide there twice forming four nucleate and then eight nucleate structure. One nucleus from each side moves to the middle. They are called polar nuclei. The remaining three nuclei form cells at the two ends, 3 celled synergids at the micropylar end and three antipodal cells at the chalazal end.
Thus, the correct answer is option D.
