Let the length of the original rectangle =l cm and breadth =b cm.
Area of the original rectangle =l×b
Since, the dimensions of the rectangle are doubled, length of the resulting rectangle =2l cm and breadth =2b cm.
Area of the resulting rectangle =2l×2b=4(l×b)
Ratio of the areas of the original rectangle and the resulting rectangle =l×b:4(l×b)=1:4
