  1. Each substance when they are combined/mixed in any proportion forms an impure substance called a Mixture and each constituent substance of such mixture is called a component of that mixture.
  2. Components of a mixture retain their properties in the mixture.
  3. Example: Air is a mixture of different gases like dinitrogen( N2), Oxygen (O2), water vapor (H2O), Carbon dioxide (CO2), etc. These gases are called the component of Air.

Thus each substance in a mixture is called the component of the mixture.
