Say the number of trees at the beginning of the 4 year period was x, then
At the end of first year, the number of trees would be x+14x=5x4
At the end of second year, the number of trees would be (54)2×x
At the end of third year, the number of trees would be (54)3×x
At the end of fourth year, the number of trees would be (54)4×x
At the end of nth year, the number of trees would be (54)n×x
So, we have that (54)4×x=6250
5444=54×10
x=44×10
x=2560
