Early anaphase in mitosis is characterized by the:
Division of centromere in each chromosome
This is that stage of mitosis or meiosis in which the chromosomes move from the equatorial plate towards the poles of the cell. At the end of anaphase, a complete set of chromosomes has assembled at each pole of the cell. In mitosis, the chromatids separate due to the splitting of the centromere whereas in meiosis, the homologous chromosomes separate.
