Question

ECG depicts the depolarisation and repolarisation processes during the cardiac cycle. In the ECG of a normal healthy individual one of the waves are not represented. Which wave is that? Explain.

Solution

The wave of atrial repolarization is invisible due to low amplitude. Atrial repolarisation coincides with ventricular depolarization, so it is merged with the QRS complex and thus, is not recorded as a separate wave. So, the wave of atrial repolarization is not represented.
