ABCD is a rectangle. Hence AEFB and CDEF are trapeziums with parallel sides 1 cm and 2 cm and height 4 cm.

Area of rectangle ABCD = length x breadth = 3 x 4 = 12 cm2

Area of trapezium = 12×(sum of parallel sides)×height

Area of trapezium AEFB = 12×(1+2)×4 = 6 cm2

Area of trapezium CDEF = 12×(1+2)×4 = 6 cm2

Area of both the parts are equal.
