Solution

Dear Student

3 features of an act by Sri lankan government in 1956 were:
  • Seeking dominance over the Government by winning the majority was the aim of the leaders of the Sinhala community. It was with this aim that the elected government adopted few majoritarian measures.
  • In 1956 Sinhala as the only official language. This act proved that they disregarded Tamil. Sinhalese were favoured in Government colleges and other government jobs.
  • A new constitution stipulated that the state shall protect and foster Buddhism.
  • The Tamils there, have been deprived of their basic civil political rights and have been the victims of discrimination.
