Question

Electrolytic conductivity of 0.02 mol/l solution of kcl at 298k is 2.48x10^-2 ohm^-1 cm^-1. Calculate it's molar conductivity.

Open in App
Solution

Conductivity

(k)=0.0248 S cm−1=0.0248 ohm−1cm−1

Molar concentration (C) 0.02 mol L−1

=(0.02 mol/(1000 cm3)=2.0×10^−5molcm−3

Molar conductivity (λm)=k/C=(0.0248 ohm−1cm−1)/(2.0×10−5mol cm−3)

=12.4 ohm−1mol−1cm2

or 12.4 S mol−1cm
