Solution

Step 1: Given information

The electromagnetic wave of intensity, I=1400W/m2

Area, A=1.5m2

Step 2: To find

The force exerted by the beam.

Step 3: Calculating force

We know the formula for force, when wave is completely absorbed

F=IAC

By substituting the values, we get

=1400×1.53×108=7×10-6N

Therefore, the force exerted by the beam is 7×10-6N.
