Electron transport chain is present in the inner membrane of mitochondria. Mitochondria is a double membrane bound organelle of the cell. It has an outer membrane and an inner membrane which is thrown into folds called cristae. The space enclosed within the inner membrane is called a matrix. The space present between outer and inner membrane is called intermembrane space.

The electron transport chain is a series of complexes made up of proteins and organic molecules in the inner membrane of the mitochondria. The electrons are transported from NADH+H+ and FADH2 to molecular oxygen through the complexes of the ETC.
