How can the magnetized needle get attracted to earth's geographic north pole,when we say like poles repel?

• Earth is a huge magnet such that it behaves like a bar magnet with its magnetic north pole lies in southern hemisphere and magnetic south pole lies in northern hemisphere.
• When a magnetic needle is suspended freely, then the magnetic north pole of the needle is attracted towards the magnetic south pole, that is towards northern hemisphere. In this there is an attraction between north pole of magnetic needle and south pole of earth's magnetic field.
