Democracy becomes real when people actually participates in the democratic process. It does not merely mean electing representatives. People's participation becomes vibrant through public debates newspaper editorials, protest demonstrations, and their active involvement in the various policies and programmes of the government.Participation of the people involves all those actions carried by the citizens by which they seek to influence, support, criticise and oppose those policies of the government which they think as contradictory to their welfare.
