a. . Universal Adult Franchise is an important aspect of Democracy as it ensures equality in the society by giving right to vote to all the adult citizens irrespective of their class, caste , creed , religion or sex.
b. It ensures every citizen above the age of 18 has right to vote and chose his/her representatives.
c. It ensures that everyone has one vote and every vote has equal value.
d. It also allows participation of the people in the governance of the country giving them freedom to exercise their choice by means of vote.
e. This is applied everywhere in the country, including the villages.
f. In fact in villages, Gram Sabha comprises of all the adult members have the right to choose members of Gram Panchayat.
g. Even when elections to the assembly or general elections take place, all adult members of the village have right to vote.
